Your route takes You from the expedition base of the side cone Podkova (the Horseshoe) at the elevation of 900 meters along the northern slope of the highest volcano in Europe and Asia - Klyuchevskoy to the volcanologists` base Apahonchich. On the way You will see spectacular panoramas of Kamen, Ushkovsky and Srednyay Sopka Volcanoes. You may visit the sites of the secondary eruptions of Klyuchevskoy volcano which took place in 1938 (Bilyukai) and in 1951 (Bylinkinoy). You may also climb the active volcano Tolbachik.
    The most thrilling exploration of the volcano group (by the way, Klyuchevskoy Volcano is more then 7000 years old) will take You through fabulous forests teeming with unique wildlife to enigmatic area of the volcanoes.     Trekking to the northern Kamchatka volcanoes is a trip on foot in the mountains around 12 volcanoes of the Klyuchevskaya Group. During the trekking, you carry only your personal belongings and your sleeping bag. The guides carry the rest of the things.

Day 1: Flight Moscow - Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
Day 2: Arrival at Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Transfer and accommodation at the hotel. Dinner at the cafe. Visit to the overlook ground.
    From the very beginning of the travel (in good weather) the tourists have got a chance to watch the 3 great volcanoes visible from almost everywhere in Yelizovo & P/K. These are Koryaksky (3456 m), Avachinsky (2741 m) and Kozelsky (2189 m) volcanoes called "house volcanoes" by the citizens of both towns.
Visit to the museum of the Institute of Volcanology of the Russian Academy of Science. Talks for the details and discussion of the program. Supper and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Breakfast. A bus trip to the central part of Kamchatka to the village of Kozyrevsk (570 km - 9 hours). Dinner on the route in the library of the village Milkovo. Accommodation at a hotel. Supper and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Breakfast. Transfer from Kozyrevsk to Tolbachik Volcano (4 - 5 hours by truck, depending on the weather conditions). Camping at the base of volcanologists at an altitude of 700 m. Supper. Overnight in tents.
    The Klyuchevskaya volcano group represents the most interesting volcanoes in Kamchatka. Invisible to us, the two volcanic arches of the Kurilo-Kamchatkaya and the Aleutskaya volcanoes came together to the east of the Kamchatka River. As a result the largest group of volcanoes (12) was created in this relatively small area (65 thousand sq.km). These are the largest volcanoes of Europe and Asia. Klyuchevskoy Volcano (4750 m), Kamen Volcano (4575 m), Ushkovsky (3943 m), Krestovsky (4108 m), Ostry Tolbachik (3682 m), Plosky Tolbachik (3083 m), Bezymianny (2800 m), Ovalnaya Zimina (3061 m), Ostraya Zimina, Bolshaya Udina (2923 m), Malaya Udina (1945 m) and Sredny (3020 m).
Day 5: Breakfast. Excursion to the Cones of the New Tolbachik Volcanoes which were formed during the Great Tolbachik Fissure Eruption in 1975. Climbing the second cone. The temperature on the top of the cone reaches 400o C at a depth of only 30 cm. Sightseeing of the platforms with new minerals. A magnificent view of Tolbachik volcano (3000 m) and the surrounding moonlike landscape opens up from the height of 350 m.

Excursion to the Dead Forest. Picnic in the Forest.

Transfer to the mount "Vysokaya" by truck. Walk to the top and to the crater of the mount. Tourists may observe numerous volcanic bombs and take them as souvenirs. From the top of "Vysokaya" there reveals a beautiful panorama of 45 km zone of slag cones. Volcanoes Kizimen and Kronotsky are visible on the skyline. Kronotsky volcano is also called Fudziyama of Kamchatka; it exceeds the famous Japanese volcano with its regular form and height (3528 m.).

Transfer to the first cone of New Tolbachik Volcanoes. Watching the xenoliths thrown out during the eruption of 1975. Return to the camp. Supper in the wooden house of the Institute of Volcanology. Overnight in tents.
Day 6: Breakfast. Drive by truck and then a 6 km walking excursion to the South Cone of 1976 eruption. The way runs through the path of Kamchatka Taiga. The tourists may see underground grottoes in the old lava flows on the way. Accent to the South Cone. Sightseeing of the thermal grounds. (The temperature at a depth of 30 - 40 cm is over 400o C.). Lunch on the old lava flow. Return to the truck. Drive back to the base camp. Supper at the volcanological base. Overnight in tents.
Day 7: Breakfast. Transfer to Esso 2 variants:

In case of good weather:
A helicopter comes to the volcanological base Tolbachik. The tourists board it and make a flight over Klyuchevskaya Volcano Group. Landing at the active volcano Bezymianny. (The flight is paid by the tourists additionally.) 1 hour sightseeing of Bezymianny, Klyuchevskoy and Kamen volcanoes. Return flight to Kozyrevsk. Drive to Esso.

If the weather is not favorable:
Transfer to Esso by truck. Dinner on the bank of Studenaya River.

Supper (Russian songs or Itelmen dances) and overnight in wooden houses.
Day 8: Breakfast. Flight by the helicopter to the reindeer heard. Acquaintance with nomad tribe of Evens, their way of living, traditions and customs for 3 hours presents the tourists an excellent possibility to enrich their intellectual level and to take uncommon pictures of reindeers. Lunch in Evens' jurt. Flight back to Esso. Supper and overnight at the hotel.
Day 9: After breakfast - drive to Paratunka village. Lunch. Bathing in the basin with hot mineral water. Rest-time, which is necessary in the middle of the tour. Supper and overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Breakfast. Flight by the helicopter to Karymsky volcano, landing at the crater lake of the volcano. The Lake of Russian Academy of Science was formed during the eruption in 1996. Meanwhile the helicopter brings the cooker and the luggage to the volcanological station and the tourist make a 2-hours' stroll to the geysers located on the lakeside. Lunch on the lakeside. Return to the volcanological station at the foot of Karymsky. Supper und overnight in tents.
Day 11: Breakfast. Excursion to Karymsky volcano to the maximum possible close secure distance. Watching the strombolian activity and taking pictures from different places. Lunch on the way. Return to the base camp. Supper und overnight in tents.
Day 12: After breakfast you are given an option of 2 variants:

Option 1: (Performed on the wish of tourists for additional payment) In favourable weather the tourists fly around the world-wide known "Valley of Geysers" and land in Uzon Caldera (the flight is paid for by the tourists). 1-hour excursion to the thermal grounds and mud volcanoes. Helicopter flight to Nalychevo Nature Park. Supper und overnight in tents.

Option 2: Helicopter flight to Nalychevo Nature Park (about 25 minutes). Camping. Supper. Stay overnight in tents.
    The territory of Nalychevo has a complex geological construction and interesting history of volcano-magma and hydrothermal activity. It consists of the valley Nalychevo with the river going out to the Pacific Ocean and its mountain framing that mainly consists of the ancient extinct volcanoes and the 4 active volcanoes: Koryaksky (3456 m), Zhupanovsky (2958 m), Avachinsky (2571 m), Dzenzursky (2285 m).
Day 13: After breakfast a trip to natural mineral springs - "The Narsans". On the way you may view a panorama of 3 volcanoes: Aag, Aaric and Koryaksky. The way is not hard; it runs along the forest path. It takes almost the whole day to get to the destination and back. Lunch on the way. Return to the camp. Bathing in hot mineral springs. Supper in the light of the campfire and overnight in cottages.
Day 14: Breakfast. Trip to Nalychevo River. Kamchatka "ukha" - fish soup made of freshly caught fishes. Watching the salmon spawning. Flight back to Paratunka in the evening. Supper und overnight in tents.
Day 15: Breakfast. Transfer to the base camp between Mutnovsky and Gorely Volcanoes. Supper und overnight in tents.
Day 16: Breakfast. Climbing Gorely Volcano. Lunch on the way. Return to the base camp. Super. Overnight in tents.
Day 17: Breakfast. Ascending Mutnovsky volcano. Lunch on the way. Return to the base camp. Super. Overnight in tents.

Mutnovsky Volcano     Active Mutnovsky Volcano (2323 m).
    This route is the closest to Petropavlovsk- Kamchatsky (3 hours by jeep). It is also the most reliable one as it does not depend upon the weather. You will be able to see one of the most active volcanoes of Kamchatka - Mutnovsky. You will also have a chance to visit the crater of Mutnovsky Volcano, griffons, sulfuric platforms, active fumaroles and eruption of geysers. The program offers you unique opportunities to swim in hot mineral springs and travel to a waterfall which is located near the Vulkannaya River. Scaling to this volcano neither requires special equipment nor has any age restrictions and therefore can be taken up even by children.


Day 18: Breakfast. Drive to Paratunka. Supper and overnight at the hotel.
Day 19: Breakfast. Visit to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Sightseeing, shopping, visit to the local market, purchase of souvenirs. Visit to Kamchatka Museum of Local Lore. Farewell party. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 20: Breakfast. Drive to the airport and departure for Moscow.

Day 6: Hike to Zimina Volcano. Overnight at the expedition camp Tolud in tents.
    Turists stay overnight in mountainous tundra between volcanoes Ostry Tolbachik, Ovalnaya Zimina, and Bolshaya Udina. Before 1975 more than 6000 deer pastured themselves there. In 1975 after the eruption of the New Tolbachinskie volcanoes more than 1000 deer perished. They ate moss with ash. By present, 25 years later tundra is completely recovered.
Day 7: Hike to Udina Volcano. Overnight in tents.
Day 8: Hike to Bezymianny Volcano past the pass between Ushkovsky and Ostry Tolbachik Volcanoes. Overnight in tents at the foot of Bezymianny Volcano.

Bezimyany Volcano     Bezymianny Volcano (3085 m).

    The destroyed volcanic summit is preplaced by a giant crater 1,3 by 2,8 km facing the eastward and accommodating the dome Novy at the centre. The slopes are covered with numerous lava flows, the youngest in the southwestern sectors.


Day 9: Climb the cliff of the active Bezymianny volcano. Lunch on the way. Return to the camp. Supper and overnight at the expedition base.
Day 10: Hike to the pass Plotina (The dam) and to Ushkovsky Volcano. Overnight in tents at the foot of the Ushkovsky Volcano.
Day 11: Automobile drive to the village of Kozyrevsk. Lunch at a cafe. Drive to the village of Malki. Overnight in tents.
Day 12: Visit the King Salmon Cultivation Factory. Dinner in Malki. Visit Paratunka Village. Accommodation at the hotel. Supper.
Day 13: After supper sightseeing tour around the town, visiting the town market, purchase of souvenirs. Friend's supper at the hotel.
Day 14: After breakfast departure to the airport.

Trekking to the Klyuchevskoy Group of Volcanoes.
Rafting down the Bystraya River (100 km) in Rubber boats.
(15 days, Route No.2/1)

Day 1: Arrival to Yelizovo. You will be transferred to your hotel. In the evening you will meet your expedition leader. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Breakfast at the hotel. Travel by 4WD to the small, old Cossack settlement of Milkovo. We have lunch at the cafe. Drive to the settlement Kozyrevsk (4 hours). Lunch at the cafe. Drive to the Institute of Volcanology expedition camp at Tolbachik Volcano. Supper. After we arrive we have dinner and overnight in cabins.

Day 5: Passage to Bolshaya Udina volcano past volcanoes Ovalnaya and Ostraya Zimina. Lunch on the route. Lodging for the night at the foot of Bolshaya Udina volcano in tents and sleeping bags.
    Turists stay overnight in mountainous tundra between volcanoes Ostry Tolbachik, Ovalnaya Zimina, and Bolshaya Udina. Before 1975 more than 6000 deer pastured themselves there. Day 6: Hike to Besymyanny Volcano. Pass between Besymyanny and Tolbachic Volcanoes to the Institute of Volcanology's expedition camp. Here is a grand view of three volcanoes. Overnight in a bunkhouse in sleeping bags.

Bezimyany Volcano     Bezymianny Volcano (3085 m).

Day 7: Climb Besymyanny Volcano (5 hours). Visit pyroclastic flows of the 1956 eruption. Overnight in a bunkhouse in sleeping bags.
Day 8: Hike to Ushkovsky Volcano and Studenaya river (5 - 6 hours). Lunch. Overnight in sleeping bags at the tent.
Day 9: Hike to Kopyto (Horseshoe) - the lateral crater of Ushkovsky Volcano (3 hours). Lunch. Drive to the settlement Kosirevsk and further to Milkovo and to Malki. Swimming in the hot pool. Overnight in cottages.
Day 10: After lunch, rafting down the Bystraya River to the area Karelya. Supper on the way. Rest at 4-5 p.m. Fishing. Overnight in tents.
Day 11: Rafting and fishing at Kareliya. Lunch. Supper. Overnight in tents.
Day 12: Rafting down the Bystraya River. Lunch on the way. Rest at 4-5 p.m. near the Japanese Bridge. Fishing. Supper. Overnight in tents.
Day 13: Rafting down the Bystraya River to the settlement Karymai. Lunch. Fishing. Prepare the rafts for loading. Load equipment into the buses. Departure to the city at 4 p.m. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 14: Visiting the Institute of Volcanology of the Far Eastern Branch of Russian Academy of Science and tour the Institute's museum. After lunch, visit to the Regional Museum and downtown. Free time. Supper. Overnight at a hotel.

We have worked in the presence of these volcanoes for many years and will create an adventure for you that is not only interesting but also safe. After this tour you may rest in the wild mineral springs.
    The next day, after 3-hour's drive you will speed along by inflatable raft down a mountain river through the central Kamchatka mountain range. Car trip to the rescue service rest base Volcanologist (3 hours) from Petropavlovsk. Swimming in a hot thermal pool. Excursion to Radonovaya springs and to the geological gallery. Free time. Swimming in Radonovaya springs. Super. Overnight in tents.
Day 3:
(Tuesday)
Breakfast. Automobile trip to the old crater of Gorely Volcano (1 hour). Visit to the active crater of Gorely volcano (5 hours on foot). Lunch in the crater of the volcano. Return to the automobile - 3 hours. Automobile trip to the deposits of hot water Dachnoe (1 hour). Stay overnight in tents.

Day 5:

Breakfast. Trip by car to Malki (3 hours). Preparation for rafting. Rafting down the Bystraya River to the Stepanov Brook. Lunch. Rest at 2-3 p.m. Fishing. Overnight in tents.
Day 6:
(Friday)
Breakfast. Rafting down the Bystraya River. Fishing in the area Kareliya. Lunch. Rafting. Supper. Overnight in tents.
Day 7:
(Saturday)
Breakfast. Rafting down the Bystraya River. Lunch on the way. Rest at near the Japanese Bridge. Rafting down the Bystraya river to the settlement Karymai. Preparation of the rafts for loading. Loading equipment on to the buses. Departure to the city at 4 p.m. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 8:

Automobile trip to the Harbour. Sea voyage by the ship (8 hours). Departure to the city at 4 p.m. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 9:
(Monday)
Breakfast. In case of bad weather this is an extra day. If everything works out we will spend the day exploring Petropavlovsk and surrounding areas. Go shopping and generally relaxing. Evening farewell dinner in Yelizovo. Overnight.
Day 10:
(Tuesday)
Breakfast. Trip to the airport.


Excursion to the Active Craters of Mutnovsky and Gorely Volcanoes. Fishing.
(12 days, Route No.9/1)

    You are offered a unique opportunity to have fantastic fishing of Salmon Mykiss, Brook Char and Coho Salmon. The river Bystraya crosses mountains in those places where roads are absent. The only way you can get to the fishing ground is either by helicopter or by rafting on a rubber boat, and therefore there are not any people on the river. Fishermen have their breakfast, then catch fish all day long and raft. They get to their established camp in the evening and have supper.
    Tourists must have fishing equipment, waterproof clothes, rubber boots, sleeping bags, rags. Sleeping and dinning places will be arranged by your guides. 2 people can sleep in each tent. The rest of Rafting will take 4 hours every day. The time you are free to fish, rest and enjoy amazing wild nature. Feel yourself in harmony with the nature.

Day 1: Arrival. Accommodation at the hotel. Dinner. Stay overnight for rest.
Day 2: Car trip to the rescue service rest base Volcanologist (3 hours) from Petropavlovsk. Swimming in a hot thermal pool. Excursion to Radonovaya springs and to the geological gallery. Free time. Swimming in Radonovaya springs. Super. Overnight in tents.
Day 3: Breakfast. Automobile trip to the old crater of Gorely Volcano (1 hours). Visit to the active crater of Gorely volcano (5 hours on foot). Lunch in the crater of the volcano. Return to the automobile - 3 hours. Automobile trip to the deposits of hot water Dachnoe (1 hour). Overnight in tents.
Day 4: Breakfast. Visit to the active crater of Mutnovsky volcano (4 - 5 hours on foot). Lunch in the crater of the volcano. Return trip to the deposits of hot water Dachnoe - 3 hours. Overnight in tents.
Day 5: Breakfast. Trip by car to Malki (3 hours). Preparation for rafting. Rafting down the Bystraya River to the Stepanov Brook. Lunch. Rest at 2-3 p.m. Fishing. Overnight in tents.
Day 6,7: Breakfast. Rafting down the Bystraya River. Fishing in the area Kareliya. Lunch. Rafting. Supper. Overnight in tents.
Day 8,9: Rafting down the Bystraya River. Lunch on the way. Rest at near the Japanese Bridge. Rafting down the Bystraya river to the settlement Karymai. Preparation of the rafts for loading. Loading equipment into the buses. Departure to the city at 4 p.m. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Automobile trip to the Harbour. Sea voyage by the ship (8 hours). Departure to the city at 4 p.m. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 11: In case of bad weather this is an extra day. If everything works out we will spend the day exploring Petropavlovsk and surrounding areas. Go shopping and generally relaxing. Evening farewell dinner in Yelizovo. Overnight.
Day 12: Trip to the airport.

Excursion to the Top of the Active Volcanoes Avacha, Mutnovsky and Gorely.
(8 days, Route No.9/2)

Day 1: Arrival to Kamchatka, meeting at the airport. Accommodation at the hotel. Supper. Overnight at he hotel.
Day 2: After breakfast - automobile trip to the rescue service base camp. Ascending Mutnovsky volcano. Lunch in the crater of the volcano. Return to the base. Camping in tents.

Mutnovsky Volcano     Active Mutnovsky Volcano (2323 m).
    This route is the closest to Petropavlovsk- Kamchatsky (3 hours by jeep). It is also the most reliable one as it does not depend upon the weather. You will be able to see one of the most active volcanoes of Kamchatka - Mutnovsky. You will also have a chance to visit the crater of Mutnovsky Volcano, griffons, sulfuric platforms, active fumaroles and eruption of geysers. The program offers you unique opportunities to swim in hot mineral springs and travel to a waterfall which is located near the Vulkannaya River. Scaling to this volcano neither requires special equipment nor has any age restrictions and therefore can be taken up even by children.


Day 3: After breakfast - climbing Gorely volcano. Overnight in the base camp in tents.
Day 4: Breakfast. Automobile trip to Avacha volcano. Camping at the base of mountain rescuers, overnight in tents.
Day 5: After breakfast - climbing at the top of the Avachinsky volcano. Lunch on the way. Return to the base camp. Overnight in tents.
Day 6: Drive back to the town. Accommodation at the hotel. Sea trip around the Avacha bay. Night rest at the hotel.
Day 7: Sea trip around Avacha bay. Farewell supper. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 8: Departure to the airport.
